With a sound that is the aural equivalent of a bison stampede, High on Fire have ascended over the last decade to become the quintessential metal band. Devoid of any pomp or frivolity, they are a stripped-down machine churning out riffs. Consistent record releases and touring have kept them in the collective metal consciousness, and fans now reverently refer to guitarist Matt Pike as the new Lemmy.
