Chicago’s Empty Bottle has been organizing concerts in unusual settings all over the city for several years, venues like Rockefeller Chapel, The International Museum of Surgical Science, Garfield Park Conservatory, and, for the Beyond the Gate series, The Bohemian National Cemetery.
And what better choice for a concert at a cemetery than a death metal band? Colorado’s Blood Incantation has been garnering rave reviews for their melding of ambient soundscapes with death metal (with plenty of homages to Death and Morbid Angel), which came to full fruition on their 2024 record Absolute Elsewhere. Their set list for Beyond the Gate featured Absolute Elsewhere in its entirety, as well as several tracks from earlier records. The concert itself took place on a lawn away from the plots, with plenty of space and a full stage setup.
Their summer 2025 U.S. tour continues throughout July and into August, bringing them across the Midwest and into the northwest and California. Check out photos from the show below!
